Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- All manuscripts must comply with the Journal's Aims & Scope.
- The author(s) has carefully read and adhered to the Policies (submission, review, editting).

All the manuscripts must comply with the Manuscript Formatting Guidelines of the Journal.
- The length, font size;
- The title, summary, keywords (in English and Vietnamese);
- The tables, figures, data;
- The citations;
- The layout & spelling errors.
- The author(s) must fully provide personal information of all authors and other commitments if required.
- The submission must include a Cover Letter (to be uploaded together with the manuscript in Step 2).
Article
For new submission to the HCMCOUJS - ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY must be met, for which authors are encouraged to carefully consult and adhere to our Policies, before proceeding the submission.
All the manuscripts must comply with the Policies and the Manuscript Formatting Guide of the Journal. The manuscripts must comply with the Journal’s Aims & Scope.
The manuscript submitted to Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science must not be published or submitted for publication elsewhere (abstract only or full text; in printed or online version). The manuscript will also be not allowed to submit anywhere else until receiving a final decision from the Journal (rejected for publication).
If the manuscript is the collective work of several authors, all authors will decide the number/order of the author list. The primary author is the one whose name appears first in the list. The remaining authors are regarded as co-authors. The corresponding author will manage all communication between the Journal and all co-authors and directly contact the Journal to discuss any issues relating to the submission, modification, editing, and publication. He/she could be the primary author or any other one among the co-authors. All authors are also responsible for identifying this representative who accepts direct responsibility for the manuscript. All authors have to agree to be listed and approve the manuscript submission to the Journal. After entering the editing process, any amendment, deletion, or re-arrangement to the author list will not be accepted (unless the authors submit a formal letter with a rational reason to the Journal).
Authors are strictly required to keep confidential all details of the editorial and peer review process on submitted manuscripts.
All manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism and research duplication. All documents should be fully cited, listed in the bibliography section. If included in the manuscripts, the participants’ information must have the person’s consent exchanged or discussed. The author is responsible for the content of the article, as well as the use of documents, data, figures, etc. In some cases, if needed, the authors must make all data available upon request to editors and peer reviewers at the time of submission to evaluate the manuscript.
Copyright Notice
The copyright of articles published by the Journal is governed by the Law on Intellectual Property of Vietnam (2022), the Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Intellectual Property (2022), and the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
- The author(s) retain full copyright, including moral rights and property rights, over the preprint version of the manuscript. At this stage, the author(s) may request withdrawal of the manuscript or changes regarding content, authorship, or author order.
- Once the manuscript has been accepted (accepted manuscript) after the editor’s desk review but prior to its formal publication, it is considered an incomplete, intermediate product. During this period, the author(s) are not permitted to withdraw the manuscript, nor to alter its content, number of authors, or authorship order. The Journal holds property rights over the accepted manuscript.
- A published journal article is defined as the version formally published in print and/or online by the Journal, assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), and indexed in domestic and international databases in which the Journal participates. The published article incorporates the full added value contributed by the Journal, including submission, desk review, peer review, editorial processing, acceptance, and publication.
The author(s) retain copyright over the published article, except for the property rights, which are held by the Journal. Author(s) are permitted to copy, store, distribute, display, perform, and create derivative works based on the original article for lawful and non-commercial purposes, provided that proper and complete citation of the Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science is made, in compliance with the binding terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
This confirmation supersedes any agreement between the Journal and the author(s) concerning the acknowledgment of copyright and property rights for submitted manuscripts and published scientific articles.
Privacy Statement
Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science - Engineering and Technology (HCMCOUJS - Engineering and Technology) is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of all users (authors, reviewers, editors, and readers) in compliance with Vietnamese law and international publishing standards.
The Journal collects and uses personal data solely for academic and editorial purposes, including:
- Managing the submission, peer review, editorial, and publication processes.
- Communicating with authors, reviewers, and editors during manuscript handling.
- Maintaining academic transparency, quality assurance, and statistical reporting.
The Journal does not disclose personal information to any third party without the user's consent, except where required by law. All data are securely stored within controlled and protected systems.
Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all manuscripts, reviews, and editorial communications. Users have the right to request access to, correction, or deletion of their personal information.
