Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is playing a transformative role in English language teaching at higher education institutions in Vietnam. This study explores how AI tools influence teaching methods and student learning experiences. Using a mixed-method approach, data were collected from 47 English major students via a 17-item questionnaire featuring both closed and open-ended questions. Quantitative findings show significant improvements in student engagement, vocabulary acquisition, and grammar proficiency. Qualitative responses reveal increased learning autonomy and flexibility, alongside concerns about reduced human interaction and technical challenges. The study highlights both the benefits and limitations of integrating AI into English language education and offers recommendations for more effective implementation.
