Việc tham gia trực tiếp các giải chạy marathon có thể ảnh hưởng đến nhận thức của các chân chạy về mức độ hạnh phúc với trải nghiệm tiêu dùng đó, dựa trên thời gian và nguồn lực đầu tư vào trải nghiệm. Mục đích của nghiên cứu là xem xét cách các khía cạnh chất lượng dịch vụ sự kiện marathon được vận hành thông qua môi trường vật lý, tương tác và các yếu tố kết quả ảnh hưởng đến sự hài lòng chung với sự kiện và hạnh phúc trải nghiệm. Dữ liệu được thu thập từ 300 chân chạy tham gia các cuộc đua 5km, 10km, 21km, và 42km tại một số giải marathon tại Việt Nam trong thời gian gần đây. Phân tích mô hình cấu trúc tuyến tính cho thấy tác động tích cực của các yếu tố chất lượng môi trường vật lý, chất lượng tương tác, chất lượng kết quả đến sự hài lòng với sự kiện, và đến hạnh phúc trải nghiệm; và của sự hài lòng với sự kiện ảnh hưởng tích cực đến hạnh phúc trải nghiệm. Kỳ vọng chung về chất lượng trải nghiệm sự kiện có thể là trọng tâm cho các nhà quản lý sự kiện nhằm đạt được các mục tiêu marketing xã hội liên quan đến tâm lý tích cực từ việc tham gia sự kiện.
