Abstract

This study examines the impact of Total Quality Management (TQM) on the sustainable performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Ho Chi Minh City, focusing on the mediating roles of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) and green innovation, as well as the moderating role of institutional pressure. Data were collected from employees and managers of SMEs and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS SEM). The results show that TQM enhances sustainable performance both directly and indirectly through GSCM and green innovation. Institutional pressure negatively moderates the relationship between GSCM and sustainable performance. In contrast, its moderating effect on the relationship between TQM and sustainable performance is not statistically significant. The findings suggest that SMEs can improve sustainable performance by integrating TQM with green management practices and innovation, while adopting flexible strategies to cope with institutional pressures.
